Dagon Seikkan Township Court sentenced San San Oo (a) Lay Lay and Naung Naung who were sued under Section 505 (b) of Penal Code (conducting public mischief) and under Section 153 of promoting enmity between classes to one and half year imprisonment and hard labour in Yangon on September 11.
“The court gave a verdict to Aung Ko Htwe. Then the judge’s decision caused uproar at the court area. The supporters of Aung Ko Htwe called the judge, the cattle judge. The judge explained that if the accused was not happy with, they can lodge an appeal,” said Zeyar Aung, the lawyer of the accused.
During that trial, San San Oo (a) Lay Lay demanded that effective legal actions should be taken against corrupt departmental officials, military representatives in the parliament should leave the parliament and oppression against subordinates by superiors in the army should be stopped.
During the trial of child soldier Aung Ko Htwe on January 17, the protest led by Naung Naung and Lay Lay demanded that the 2008 Constitution should be cancelled. Therefore, the pair was arrested by the police on January 18.
It took them eight months and they faced trials at Dagon Seikkan Court. During the September 11 trial, the judge gave a final verdict to them.
