Peace Commission and northern alliance forces meet

Government Peace Commission (PC) and three northern alliance forces met for trust building and will meet again in October according to general secretary of Ta'ang National Liberation Army (TNLA) Brig-Gen Tar Phone Kyaw.

With the intervention of The Chinese special envoy for Asian affairs Sun Guoxiang, Peace Commission and TNLA, Myanmar National Democratic Alliance Army (MNDAA) and the Arakan Army (AA) met in Kumin, China on September 5.

“There were not many things to discuss, it was just a trust building process,” said Brig-Gen Tar Phone Kyaw.

He continued that the three ethnic groups will meet again in coming October with Peace Commission.

Also present on the occasion were vice-chairman Thein  Zaw of PC, top leaders from TNLA, MNDAA and AA. And representatives from Kachin Independence Organization/Army (KIO/KIA) and the United Wa State party/Army (UWSP/UWSA) attended as witnesses.

These three groups are also Federal Political Negotiation and Consultative Committee ( FPNCC) members. Besides, NDAA, Shan State Progressive party (SSPP) and KIO, UWSP are members of FPNCC.

Leaders from seven ethnic armed groups attended Union Peace Summit-21st Century 3rd Panglong Summit held in second week of July this year.

The statement made from the 21st Century 3rd Panglong Summit said that another summit will be held this year. It is also planned to hold two summits in 20-19.
