President Win Myint leaves for Nepal to attend BIMSTEC Summit

President Win Myint and his wife paid an official visit to Nepal to attend the Fourth Summit of the Bay of Bengal Initiative for Multi-Sectoral Technical and Economic Cooperation (BIMSTEC) at the invitation of Her Excellency Bidya Devi Bhandari on August 27, sources said.

Myanmar delegation arrived at Kathmandu Tribhuvan International Airport, Federal Democratic Republic of Nepal around 2:30 pm and Myanmar Ambassador to Nepal Thiri Pyanchi Tun Nay Lin and Chief of Protocol Deepak Adhikari of the Nepalese Foreign Ministry came onboard the plane to welcome Myanmar President and his delegation.

Myanmar President was then greeted by Nepalese Deputy Prime Minister Ishwor Pokhrel on the dais on which President Win Myint and Nepalese Deputy Prime Minister later took the salute of the Guard of Honor of the Federal Democratic Republic of Nepal.

The delegation led by the President went to the Myanmar Embassy in Nepal and met with chairmen of the Nepal-Myanmar Friendship Association and Nepal-Myanmar Merchant Association and their members. Next, they met with Myanmar Embassy staff and family members, according to an announcement from Myanmar President’s Office.
