15 clashes occurred after 21st Panglong Summit: TNLA

Tanaung National Liberation Army (TNLA) said that after holding the 21st Panglong Summit, clashes occurred a grand total of 15 times between military forces and TNLA. In regards to cease fire between military forces and TNLA, there has been reply from government side according to TNLA spokesman Maj.Tar Aik Kyaw.

The Union Peace Conference-21st Panglong Summit (the third) was held in July 11 to 16, 2018 in Nay Pyi Taw. The NLD-led 21st Panglong conferences have been conducted twice, in August 2016 and May 2017.

Three northern allied forces such as TNLA, Myanmar National Democratic Alliance Army (MNDAA) and Arakan Army (AA) had arranged to meet in Cumin, China on August 12th to discuss easing of tension within northern Shan State, to look for ways and means to sign a Nationwide Ceasefire Agreement (NCA) but the plan was cancelled.

“It was stopped one sided from the Peace Commission. We have heard of no reply from their side,” continued Tar Aik Kyaw.

There was a prolong fight between military forces and TNLA amid Khwenan Pheit village and Lwepantan village in Mong Ngat Township, northern Shan State. TNLA issued a statement on august 19th that clashes occurred military forces and TNLA. On that day, exchange of fire broke out twice and each lasted longer than the previous battles.

TNLA also broke out clashes with Restoration Council of Shan State (RCSS/SSA). The latter has already signed in the NCA.
