Myanmar draws with North Korea to go top of the group

Myanmar U-23 played a 1-1 draw match with North Korea U-23 to go to the top of the Group F of the 2018 Asian Games – Men’s Tournament held at Indonesia on August 15.

Myanmar re-entered the competition after 24 years and they levelled with 2014 silver medalist North Korea in their first match.

Myanmar team fielded its strong squad and North Korean team piled pressure on Myanmar in the beginning. After 20 minutes, Myanmar regained their composure and threatened goals North Korean goalkeeper through efforts from Aung Thu, Maung Maung Lwin and Yan Naing Oo. Myanmar goalkeeper Kyaw Zin Htet denied five potential goals in the first half. Winger Maung Maung Lwin scored the opening goal before the interval assisted by Striker Aung Thu. North Korean team equalized at the 55th minute.

In other match of Group F, Saudi Arabia held a nil-nil draw with Iran. Myanmar will play Saudi Arabia on August 17.
