The Kayah State Chief Minister’s words have tarnished the image of the ruling National League for Democracy, said Dr Myo Nyunt, the spokesperson of the NLD told the media after the monthly CEC meeting in Nay Pyi Taw on July 29.

On July 23, the Tatmadaw True News Information Commission issued a statement in response to the Chief Minister’s comments about the placing of a statue of General Aung San.

“Those with the assignment of duties by the NLD need to be well aware of the use of words. Like the dictatorship, we cannot govern the country with the provisions of law described. We need to pay attention to the desires of the people. We need to be very careful about every phrase we use. That is to say, we are not governing the country with the law alone. We govern the country with the agreement of people. The use of erroneous words takes a toll on us,” he added.

“The party has no authority to interfere in the administrative sector. He (chief minister) is not performing the party’s duties. No plan to take action against him in accord with the party’s rules. He may have the wrong understanding of the Constitution,” said Dr Myo Nyunt.
