Myanmar short film selected for Palm Springs International Short Film Festival

Myanmar short film “The Gatekeeper” has been chosen to screen at the Palm Springs International Short Film Festival (ShortFest) in United States. The festival will be held from June 20 to 26, and “The Gatekeeper” will be shown to the public on June 23.

The film was chosen from among more than 4,200 short films from 100 countries.

The Palm Springs ShortFest is held every June. In addition to curating the best in international cinema, the festival is the largest short film festival and market in North America. The festivals and year-round programmes manifest the organization's mission by nurturing and encouraging new filmmaking talent, honoring the great masters of world cinema, and expanding audience horizons, according to the festival’s description.

In addition to showing short filmsthe festival includes discussion, a film market and other programmes.

“The Gatekeeper” was directed by Thida Swe and it is about the man who is responsible for opening and closing of a railway gate. The seven-minute film portrays the daily life of the man and his duties, which he carries out faithfully.
