According to the administration office of Ayetharyar Ward, Monywa, Sagaing Region, a newborn baby boy was abandoned along with Ks20,000 overnight.

On April 19 the baby was found at the western gates of the Shwe Thein Daw Gyi Monastery.

The police took the boy and a policeman has already signed adoption papers.

“We heard news around 8pm that a newborn baby was found abandoned near the monastery and hurried there. It could be life threatening to the baby if left alone for too long but the baby is unharmed because whoever did it, left the baby boy in a neat little package with blankets and a mini-mosquito net. The child even had Ks20,000. There were also milk bottles. It seems like whoever did this is fairly well to do. A police patrol captain has already signed the papers for adoption,” said Ayetharyar ward administrator Than Htun Aung.
