Up to 7 per cent of the population has moved within the country in the last five years with domestic migration centring on Yangon, according to a government survey.

It said about 30 per cent of the population was now urban with Yangon offering the most job opportunities.

The government needed to create more jobs and provide better information on opportunities, according to Nay Pyi Taw's population department.

The department also reported on job opportunities and business in March last year and religious demography in July.
