Nay Pyi Taw locomotive factory and Myitnge carriage factory to open soon

Nay Pyi Taw locomotive factory and Myitnge train carriage factory, built with a loan from China, are over 90 percent finished, sources said.

Over 98 per cent of construction work for the locomotive factory building has finished and will be complete at the end of December.

The factory will assemble and manufacture electric diesel engines with a capacity of 2,000 horsepower which will be equipped with a computer controlled system, at the end of this month. The factory can manufacture about 20 diesel engines annually depending on the availability of tools and parts.

The engines produced by the factory will be used in passenger trains and freight trains.

Myitnge train carriage factory is about 98 percent finished and it built its first train carriage. The factory will build modernized high speed train carriages with new technologies and designs and can produce about 120 train carriages annually.
