Domestic airports received about five million passengers from October 2017 to August 2018 and up to 110,784 numbers of flights in that period, according to Department for Civil Aviation (DCA).
International airports in Myanmar are located in Yangon, Mandalay and Nay Pyi Taw. Other domestic airports such as Nyaung-U, Myitkyina, Heho, Loikaw, Thandwe and Sittwe airports have most passengers.
A total of 30,861 numbers of flights are recorded at Yangon International Airport in that period and it received over 3.4 million passengers in total. 3,949 numbers of flights are recorded at Mandalay International Airport in that period and it received over 300,000 passengers in total.
A total of 817 numbers of flights are recorded at Nay Pyi Taw International Airport in that period and over 28,000 passengers entered the airport.
Loikaw airport has received more passengers as visitors are interested to visit nature sightseeing places in Loikaw such as Taung Kwe Pagoda, Hteese Kha Waterfall, Lawpita Hydropower Plant, Seven Stages Lake and Hteepwint Lake.
Foreign tourists’ arrival in Loikaw increased in 2016-17 fsy and a total of 2,973 foreign tourists visited in this fiscal year.
A total of 16,421 local travellers and 2,973 foreign tourists visited Loikaw in this fiscal year. Domestic airlines are Myanmar National Airways, Myanmar Airways International, Air Kanbawza, Mann Yadanarpon Airlines, Air Mandalay, Asian Wings, Golden Myanmar Airlines, Yangon Airways and FMI Air.
