Four die, two missing in dam spillway breach



Due to the collapse of spillway of Sawchaung dam, four people are currently reported dead and two including a major from Infantry Battalion-48 are still missing, according to the Taungoo District police.

Police Officer Than Oo from Saw region police office said: “The bodies of three men and one woman were recovered. There is yet to be a complaint about the missing people.”

After the collapse of spillway of Sawchaung dam on August 29, floods displaced more than 60,000 people from 17 village-tracts and 85 villages in Yedashe Township.

Four out of ten missing people were found alive, according to the police record.
