Kayin State celebrates World Refugee Day

HPA-AN - World Refugee Day was celebrated in Hpa-Ann, Kayin State yesterday in order to educate the public about the suffering of over 68 million refugees around the globe.
 
Dr Tin Win Kyaw, Social Welfare Minister of Kayin State made a speech saying that he was very proud of returnees from abroad because they were striving to implement their dream after rehabilitating their lives. Moreover, the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees participated in the repatriation of about 100,000 Myanmar returnees who were living in nine refugee camps situated along Thailand Border Line  
 
Moureen Mc Brien, Head of Field Office from the UNHCR delivered the message sent by the High Commissioner as well as Saw Ngwe Thein, one of the returnees from Kawtkayeik Township shared his experiences.
 
The event was jointly organized by Kayin State Social Welfare Department and UNHCR. The Kyin State Government already opens the re-acceptance camps for the returnees and is now carrying out repatriation program and issuing Identity Cards and Household List.
 
Moreover, nine Myanmar Refugee Camps along Thai-Myanmar Border Area including Mae La Refugee camp celebrated the World Refugee Day-2018.
