Due to strong winds and torrential rain occuring in Intainggone village, Kyaukgyi Township, Bago Region, on June 11th and 12th, over 60 houses were destroyed.
“Strong winds that occurred on June 12th was very bad. About 30 houses were damaged and trees were felled but there was no injury. We’ve already cleared the fallen trees. Roofs of some houses were blown away. The ethnic affairs minister and MPs arrived yesterday and they met with the victims and told that the rescue operations would be carried out. Currently, they provided cash assistance and books for the victims,” said Min Lwin, Kyaukgyi Township Administrator.
Most of the victims are now taking shelter at their relatives’.
Likewise, strong winds hit Khinlu village, Meikhtila Township, Mandalay Region, in the evening of June 12th, destroying religious buildings and houses.
“I was breastfeeding my baby when strong winds suddenly hit our house. Our roofs were blown out. I feared to run away. So, I shouted for help. Although there was no injury, I was feeling dizzy. The list of damages was sent to our village-leader,” said Ma Moe from Khin Lu village.
In Khinlu village, roofs of four-story monastery were blown out, trees fell down and houses were collapsed due to strong wind hit in the evening of June 12th.
