Ananda introduced its unlimited data services at Lotte Hotel in Yangon on May 25.

At present, most net surfers are using internet with data packages provided by telecommunication operators. Although some network providers support unlimited Wi-Fi access, the installation fees and monthly fees are expensive.

Ananda said they are selling a MiFi router with built-in battery and a 4G plus SIM card with the price of K35,000 from May 25 with one month free use. Up to ten devices can connect to the router.

A 4G plus router with two-month unlimited free plan is selling with Ks65,000 and up to 30 devices can connect to it. It is suitable for small and medium enterprises.

Although the network coverage has yet to reach every townships in Yangon, it manages to cater to most of them. Users are able to check the quality of network in their region themselves.

Other data packages are 7.5 GB per month for Ks5,400, 15GB per month for Ks10,000 and 60 GB plan for Ks38,000 for two months.

The Ministry called for a  tender to grant 2600 MHz spectrum with 15 years lease in October 2016. Amara Communications won the tender for zone 3 which included Mandalay, Sagaing, Chin, Shan, Kachin and Kayah with US$24.55 million and zone 2 which included Yangon, Ayeyawady and Rakhine with US$95.81 million.
