Daily minimum wage set at Ks-4800


National Committee for Setting Minimum Wage issued a notification dated May 14, saying that it has updated the daily minimum wage at Ks-4,800 for an eight-hour work day, with the approval of the Union government.

In its statement, the committee issued it by exercising the rights enshrined in Section 5 (e) and (h) of the Minimum Wage Law 2013. According to the notification dated January 2, 2018, the national committee announced the proposed minimum wage rate.

The National Committee decided make it official only after a series of discussions between employers, employees and government representatives on the proposed rates. Apart from small businesses with less than 10 workers, family and small-scale businesses, it will be applied to all businesses across the country starting May 14.
