FDA officials inspect a drinking-water factory in Magway.

Food and Drug Administration (FDA) officials have detected unlicensed drinking-water factories in the Magway Region, sources say.

Dr Pyae Htoo, administrator of the Magway branch FDA, said that the factories would be punished accordingly. “We were surveying the factories and found about 10 of them were running without our organisation’s approval. We asked the township administrators to ban them.”

After checking all the towns in the region, the FDA would be able to release the exact number of unlicensed water manufacturers, he added.

Generally, regional food producers were found more obedient to the FDA’s rules than they were in previous years, said the administrator.

The FDA also raided the manufacturers of noodles, bean curds and soft drinks and reported some over hygiene issues.
