Stake driving in ceremony for a new village being held

Mro ethnics moved to a new place as they didn’t dare to live in the old village where eight of their villagers were killed during extremist Bengalis attack.

The stake driving in ceremony was held at the ward number 136 in Thandarkwin, Thandarkwin village tract, east of Mayu hill in southern Maungdaw on October 20.There will be 50 houses measuring 40x60 feet each.

Deputy Minister for Ministry of Social Welfare, relief and resettlement Soe Aung, Rakhine Chief Minister Nyi Pu, and other government officials attended the ceremony.

As present, the stage of rehabilitation is in process and so construction of new homes will be carried out.

“As a Myanmar citizen, we deeply felt sorry for the loss of lives and properties in the previous violence. That’s why; cooperation is made for rebuilding and rehabilitation of the lives of ethnic people,” said Nyi Pu.
