The ruling National League for Democracy (NLD) Party organised nationwide interfaith prayer ceremonies in major cities including Yangon.
The NLD held an interfaith prayer ceremony in Yangon to promote peace and harmony in Aung San Stadium, Yangon Region on October 10.
Phyo Min Thein, Yangon Chief Minister, opened the ceremony by lighting a peace candle, and respective religious leaders made speeches and held prayer ceremonies. After that the religious leaders lit peace candles and made wishes.
The interfaith prayer ceremony was held in Myawady on October 9. It was aimed at restore peace and stability in Rakhine State.
It was attended by respective religious leaders, parliamentarians and the people. The chairman of the interfaith organisation made a speech wishing for peace.
An interfaith prayer ceremony was held in Loikaw on October 10. It was attended by the Chief Minister of Kayan State Government, members of the government and town residents.
The interfaith prayer ceremony organised by the NLD was held in front of Bogyoke Aung San Park in Sagaing Region on October 10.
At the ceremony, respective religious leaders made speeches and wishes. Those present on the occasion lit candles to restore peace to the union.

It was attended by the Chief Minister of Mandalay Region, members of the Mandalay Region Government, NLD officials and people from different religious organisations. The religious leaders lit candles and made wishes.
The interfaith prayer ceremony organized by the NLD was held in Sagaing on October 10.
The townships in Sagaing Region also held interfaith prayer ceremonies. The NLD of Sagaing Region plan to hold interfaith prayer ceremonies every Tuesday for four weeks.
“Interfaith prayer ceremonies will be held in 25 townships. They will be held from 6pm to 7pm. Respective religious leaders will make wishing speeches. It will be held every Tuesday. It will last for four weeks. Our aim is peace for the whole Union,” said Thein Zaw, chairman of NLD of Magway Region.
