Until August 10, there were 256 patients being treated in hospitals with H1N1 swine influenza.
In Waibergi Hospital, there were 11 patients and one was discharged on August 9. In Yangon and Ayeyarwady regions, where most H1N1 cases have been identified, preventive measures had been carried out, according to the Ministry of Health and Sport.
Awareness posters were on display in public places.
Samples of the H1N1 virus were sent to Japan's National Institute of Infectious Diseases for laboratory checks which showed the strain was just seasonal influenza. Antiviral medicines responded to 95 to 98 per cent of cases, the authorities said.
