The Myanmar Traditional Artists and Artisans Organisation (Central) is staging an exhibition of traditional paintings at Bogyoke Aung San Market from today to June 21.
On display are masterpieces created by 18 modernist artists including Maung Maung Hla Myint, Than Kywel, Myat Han, Hla One, Thiha, Aung Min Min and Kyaw Thura Aung.
“The exhibition showcases paintings created in the traditional style with one line. We have held a similar exhibition of traditional paintings in the past. Our aim is to preserve traditional art and make this exhibition a memorable event. Myanmar culture forms the subject matter [of the paintings],” said artist Aung Min Min.
The paintings depict, among other things, the beauty of ethnic girls and rural villages, the warmth of Myanmar traditional family dinner, aShinpyu donation ceremony andvibrant marketscenes in the highlands.
