The Memory Film Festival will showcase classic Myanmar and international movies in Yangon from November 4 to 13.
The first film on the schedule is “Mya Ganaing”, a classic Myanmar movie. It was filmed in 1934 by director A-1 Tin Maung and stars Chit Swe, Ba Saw Gyi and Myint Myint. It is a silent film. It is the first classic Myanmar film to be converted into a digital format. It will screen on November 4.
The full schedule for the festival will be announced at a later date. The festival is open to the public and free of charge.
This Memory Film Festival is held in Yangon annually. This year, international classic films will be shown. Film scholars from around the world will attend and discuss the films with the audience.
“The aim of holding this festival is to preserve classic and legendary films from all over the world. It will be valuable for new generations of film producers as it will showcase international movies and offer seminars,” said Swe Zin Tun, the international relations officer for the Myanmar Movie Association.
