Film portraying Myanmar family wins best Asian feature award

The 30th Tokyo International Film Awards Festival held on November 3.

A film portraying the life of a Myanmar family has won the best Asian feature film award at the  closing ceremony of 30th Tokyo International Film Award Festival on November 3.

The director of the, film “Passage of Life”, Akio Fujimoto, won the Spirit of Asia award presented b the Japan Foundation Asia Centre.

“Passage of Life” portrays a Myanmar family living in Japan as refugees and, although they desire to go back to Myanmar, they face many obstacles. The feature film will be screened simultaneously in Japan and Myanmar. The director also plans to show the film at other international film festivals.

The Tokyo International Film Festival was held from October 25 to November 3 in Japan.
