Artists move in to Yangon 'art garden'

Four artists are living at the art garden opened in Kyauktan Township, Yangon Region, in commemoration of late writer Taryar Min Wai

The garden, opened by artist Khin Zaw Latt, covers 4.5 acres near Padagyi Pagoda in Kyauktan

"It was opened in 2012 as an art school also called the bamboo school. Children are taught painting, English and computer science there. I have long taken an interest in creating a place where artists like me can quietly work. When I go abroad, I pay visits to such places. To put my dream into reality, I established this art garden in 2012. Now, as a second step, I have chosen four painters as residency artists. I give them accommodation and meals. They can work there in a quiet manner. I plan to hold an exhibition of their works."

The four artists are Zaw Zaw KoMin Zaw AungNyi Aung Maw and Stei Pha, who will be living there for three months.
