200 to get ADSL Internet connection
Published on Monday, 19 November 2012 21:24
Two hundred out of over 1,000 applicants have been selected for ADSL (Asymmetric Digital Subscriber Line) Internet connection.
The Myanmar Post and Telecommunication (MPT) made the selection from among the applications it had received till November 15, according to MPT information and technology department.
Those living near existing ADSL lines got priority.
“Some places are not convenient for installing ADSL lines. That’s why we have not selected applicants from those areas. Meanwhile, there are some places which are far away from our ADSL lines,” a senior engineer from the department said, adding that they had already explained the reasons to those whose applications have not been entertained.
ADSL system requires a customer to have land line.
MPT officials said the unsuccessful applicants will be contacted after ADSL expansion and upgrading is completed.
