Yangon Region Investment Committee has received 16 investment proposals and is due to approve them within this month after assessment, according to committee sources.
Most of the proposed investments are to be made in manufacturing sector.
“The investment committee has received 16 investment proposals. We will hold a meeting on May 16. At the meeting, those proposals will be assessed. Most are related to manufacturing sector,” said committee joint secretary Myo Khaing Oo.
Since its formation six months ago, Yangon Region Investment Committee has approved 49 investments creating more than 20,000 jobs.
“We are trying to create more job opportunities. The 49 investments have created over 20,000 jobs. As we prioritise creating jobs, there will be more manufacturing businesses. In this manufacturing sector, we will need infrastructure related to agriculture and livestock breeding,: said Myo Khaing Oo.
The committee will be trying to issue permits for the 16 proposed investments, each of which is worth US$5 million, approximately within a month.
