YANGON- The buildings under construction weren’t suspended, Yangon Mayor Maung Maung Soe yesterday said at the Second Parliamentary Meeting of Yangon Region hled on March 6th.
MP Hla Thein from Tamwe Constituency said that he wanted to know whether there was a plan to allow under construction buildings which were suspended or not.
Maung Maung Soe replied the queries saying that the State-owned Newspaper announced on May 14th of 2016 that with the aim to securitize the construction site in accordance with the rules and regulation, 12 high-rise buildings now under construction in Yangon Region must be suspended building works because those 12 high-rise buildings were allowed within transition period. So, government ordered to suspend temporarily the building works aiming to securitize again. However, the Construction Securitizing Committee of Yangon City Development Committee reviewed the all high rise buildings which were suspended and also allowed to run construction works starting from November 7th of 2016. That’s why no under construction buildings in Yangon Municipal Area were suspended as well as all construction sites got the permission again,” said Maung Maung Soe.
MP Hla Thein said that the suspension of under construction buildings caused the impact on the constructors as well as labour faced work shortages. So, he urged the government to securitize the suspension buildings which some should be allowed or some shouldn’t be allowed aiming for permission.
