Myanmar-Japan trade represents over 7pc in last FY

Trade between Myanmar and Japan reached nearly US$2.032 billion last fiscal year, accounting for 7.04 per cent of the total trade value, according to the trade figures released by the Central Statistical Organization.

Export value amounted to $784.26 million while imports reached over $1.247 billion.

Myanmar exported garments, marine products, rice, rubber, pearls and other products to Japan. In return, it imported machines and machine equipment, electronic equipment, fertilizers, chemical products, medicines, automobiles, and other products.

In 2016-2017 FY, Myanmar’s total foreign trade value reached $28.843 billion.

Trade between Myanmar and Japan in 2013-2014 was over $1.809 billion, $2.295 billion in 2014-2015 and $1.845 billion in 2016-2017.
