Export of beans and pulses less than previous year

In the past year Myanmar exported 660000 tons of beans and pulses and made US$ 484 million- which is less than half compared with previous year, according to Ministry of Commerce.

Last year price of beans was US$ 1100-1200 per one tonne, but this year market price is US$ 800-900 per one tonne.

Myanmar exported 250,000 tonness worth of mund beans, worth US$199 million,  from April to July, 170,000 tonnes of green gram worth US$137 million, and 140,000 tonness of pigeon beans worth US$73, million according to Ministry of Commerce.

In 2017-2018 Myanmar exported beans and pulses most to India, China, Japan, Pakistan, Singapore, and Malaysia. It is expected that Myanmar will export various kinds of beans and pulses around 1200,000 to 1400,000 tons according to Myanmar Beans and Sesame Federation.

Last June and July there were changes in the prices of beans and pulses. Depending on the demand made by India, the prices of beans may increase and decrease according to beans merchants.
